Ospedale delgi Innocenti
Originally a children's orphanage, Ospedale delgi Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents') was started in 1419. The building design was based on classical Roman and Italian Romanesque styles. Brunelleschi created and used an important element for other Renaissance architects. He used geometric order when building the columns. If you drew a horizontal line across the tops of the columns you can see a square formed from the height of the column and the distance from one column to the next.
