Filippo Brunelleschi died on April 15th, 1446. He is buried in the crypt at the Cathedral of Florence. His epitaph is engraved with the quote above. His place of burial was forgotten for 5 centuries. It was rediscovered in 1972 by Guido Morozzi who had been digging underneath the church to find the remains of the old church.
